One of the main therefore most important components of any hydraulic drive system is hydraulic pump. Without some sort of hydraulic pump, all a hydraulic system would do is just sit there. The pump is the component that converts mechanical energy into hydraulic pressure, which in turn produces force in the cylinder.
A hydraulic pump, unlike what most people believe, does not generate pressure. Rather it produces liquid movement or flow with enough power to overcome pressure induced by the load at the pump outlet. The mechanical energy to be converted into hydraulic pressure can be supplied by hand (manual), by an electric motor, or by air pressure. The most common method is by hand with the use of Hydraulic Hand Pumps.
Hydraulic Hand Pumps
Hand hydraulic pumps use the simple principle of a handle providing leverage to an internal piston. Each pump consists of a cylinder, a piston containing a built-in check valve, a piston rod, an operating handle, and a check valve at the inlet port.
The piston forces hydraulic fluid through a conductor (a hose) into the cylinder port. This type of pump is available in numerous sizes and can be used in nearly all cylinder lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and holding applications.
Enerpac, the world leader in manufacturing high pressure industrial tools and equipment including hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, and heavy lifting systems, offers a vast selection of high pressure hydraulic pumps designed to have reliability, durability and built-in safety to accomplish any application requiring applied force easily and safely.
Enerpac offers a full line of manual pumps that features high pressure hydraulic hand and foot pumps designed for portability, durability and ease-of-use. Whatever pump one requires, Enerpac has it.
Types Of Hand Pumps
There are two types of hand pumps used in hydraulics: Single acting hand pumps and double acting hand pumps.
Single acting hand pumps provide flow during every other stroke. They are frequently used in hydraulic jacks. Double acting hand pumps, on the other hand, provide flow during each stroke, and are frequently used in some aircraft hydraulic systems as a source of hydraulic power for emergencies.
One of the latest and advanced hydraulic hand pumps from Enerpac is the lightweight hand pump which features a compact design and is available in single and two speed pump types. Both single and two speed pumps have lower handle effort that will help reduce operator fatigue, and both have excellent building materials (glass-filled nylon and nylon encapsulated aluminium) which give them maximum resistance against corrosion.
Advantages of Enerpac Hydraulic Hand pumps
The manual hand pump line is also equipped with numerous safety features to provide dependable performance, while maintaining worker’s safety.
Support. There is an extensive network of distributors and service centres in various locations in the world to provide top quality maintenance and repair services for Enerpac hand pump products.
Maintenance program. Enerpac offers Enerpac maintenance program (EMP) where an Enerpac Authorised Service Centre will check the tools on essential points: leaking, oil level and quality, maximum pressure setting, and damage to ensure tools are always available and in tip-top shape and minimise operational risk.
All of these offers (products and supports) aim for reduced operational risks, increased safety and minimised downtime in your operations. But more than that, those aim for giving you peace of mind that Enerpac’s high-pressure hydraulic tools will always perform safely and without faults.
